Early 2023 the Central Hawkes Bay & Tairāwhiti (Gisborne) regions were very badly affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. With roads closed, houses wiped out, towns without power, and lives lost - it was a significant natural event in Aotearoa.
Whakaata Māori (previously known as MāoriTV) along with Whānau Ora decided to put on a huge fundraiser relief concert. #MARANGA Rise Up Aotearoa was born!
Christchurch based Māori agency Ariki Creative head up the branding and creative on this kaupapa - and The Renew Room supported with:

The team at Whakaata Māori put on a huge campaign for this fundraiser relief concert.
Not only was the concert live to attend at Parr's Park, West Auckland, it was also live streamed on MĀORI+ (Whakaata Māori's streaming platform), TVNZ on demand, TV2, RNZ, nzherald.co.nz - so the reach was huge!
The digital reach was just as big, with an 8 hour TikTok live on the day streaming to Australia & New Zealand - giving people access wherever they were.
Claire was supporting the team backstage on the day, monitoring TikTok live stream, sharing reel's and imagery on the day - so didn't get much of the live action! But, Beka was live streaming from her home in Queenstown!
It was really awesome to see Beka's creative with the artist collage image, along with Ariki's logo & pattern come together!

We already know in marketing that the future of social media is moving more and more towards video. TikTok is leading the charge is producing video content - and it's not just for GEN Z! It spans generations.
Supporting Whakaata Māori by designing the TikTok campaign was a great experience for us and we're looking forward to working more with TikTok on future campaigns!
